Village Administrative Hierarchy
Bharat Population organises village records using a structured administrative hierarchy. Depending on the available source data, a village can be linked to its State, District and Sub-District or Tehsil. This structure helps users move from broad population information to local-level Census records.
Census 2011 and Census 2027 Village Data
Census 2011 records are maintained as previous official Census data where they are available in the Bharat Population database. Census 2027 remains the current focus of the website.
Until verified Census 2027 village data becomes available, village pages can continue to display the available 2011 population information while clearly showing the newer Census year as awaiting release.
When verified Census 2027 records are imported, existing village pages can display the latest figures while keeping the previous Census information available for comparison where the records are comparable.
Village, Gram Panchayat and Local Population Data
A village and a Gram Panchayat are not always the same administrative unit. A Gram Panchayat may contain one or more villages depending on the local administrative structure. Bharat Population keeps these levels separate where distinct records are available.

Frequently Asked Questions
How can I find the population of my village?
Use the search box at the top of this page and enter the village name. If multiple villages have similar names, use the District or State name to identify the correct location.
Which Census year is currently shown for villages?
Census 2011 data is used as previous official data where available. Census 2027 remains the current focus and will be shown after verified official village-level figures become available.
Is a village the same as a Gram Panchayat?
Not always. A Gram Panchayat is a local government unit and may include one or more villages depending on the administrative structure.
Will old village pages be replaced after Census 2027?
The goal is to retain the same village page URL while updating the Census information associated with that location. Previous official Census data can remain available for historical comparison.
